TOKYO’S TOP 10 PIZZA RESTAURANTS

Tokyo takes pizza as seriously as sushi. Japanese pizzaioli train in Naples, come home and build wood-fired ovens; they obsess over flour, hydration and fermentation times, and some of the results now rank among the best pizzerias in the world. You will find Neapolitan, Roman and pizza courses that run to a dozen plates — often at prices well below a sushi counter.

Our database holds 32 pizza restaurants in Tokyo recognised in the Top 100 Restaurants awards. Ranked by rating, here are the ten highest — seven of them with typical budgets under ¥10,000.

1. The Pizza Bar on 38th — 4.14

Nihonbashi · ¥20,000–29,999 · 8 seats
An eight-seat counter on the 38th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, ranked the best pizzeria in Asia-Pacific by 50 Top Pizza in 2023 and again in 2025. Executive chef Daniele Cason bakes Roman-style pizzas in a brick oven from a light, airy dough of organic Italian flour fermented for 48 hours, with toppings that change with the seasons. Seats are few and book out fast. Three minutes from Mitsukoshimae Station.

2. 400℃ Pizza Tokyo — 4.03

Kagurazaka · ¥4,000–4,999 · 15 seats
The Tokyo branch of Okayama’s 400℃ Pizza — the highest-rated pizzeria in our entire Japan database — on a quiet Kagurazaka street. High-hydration dough fermented for four days is baked fast at 400℃ into a thick, light, chewy crust. Order the FNT, with blue cheese and honey. Counter seats wrap around the open kitchen; book ahead. Closed Tuesdays.

3. Pizzeria Romana Il Pentito — 4.03

Yoyogi · ¥10,000–14,999 · 24 seats
Roman pizza — thin and crisp, not puffy — served since 1998. The way to eat here is a run of appetizers followed by a parade of pizzas, with seasonal toppings; regulars rave about the bottarga pizza. Dinner only (last order 21:00), Tuesday to Saturday. Reservations can be hard to get, so call ahead. Four minutes from Minami-Shinjuku Station.

4. Fakalò Pizza Gallery — 3.99

Shin-Okachimachi · ¥8,000–9,999 · 14 seats
A 14-seat pizzeria run by a pizzaiolo who trained at six of Naples’ most famous pizzerias. He uses flour from Gunma and handles the dough so gently that admirers call the result “drinkable pizza.” Short service windows: dinner from 18:30 on Mondays and Fridays, lunch and dinner on weekends; closed Tuesday to Thursday. Three minutes from Shin-Okachimachi Station.

5. Pizzeria Fabbrica 1090 — 3.86

Ontakesan · ¥4,000–4,999 · 24 seats
A neighbourhood Neapolitan pizzeria a minute from Ontakesan Station on the Ikegami Line, worth the trip out to Ota-ku. Wood-fired pizzas with a thin, chewy crust — the Margherita is the one to order. Open for lunch most days and for dinner; closed Tuesdays.

6. Savoy Tomato & Cheese — 3.76

Azabu-Juban · ¥4,000–4,999 · 10 seats
Savoy keeps it famously simple: a Marinara (tomato, garlic, oregano) or a Margherita, thin dough stretched in front of you and baked in a wood-fired oven at around 500℃. This ten-seat Azabu-Juban branch is open for lunch and dinner every day but Wednesday. Five minutes from Azabu-Juban Station.

7. La Tripletta — 3.75

Musashi-Koyama · ¥4,000–4,999 · 40 seats
Ranked 16th in Asia-Pacific by 50 Top Pizza in 2025. Classic Neapolitan pizza with a chewy, fragrant crust from a wood-fired oven, plus seasonal pizzas topped with firefly squid or sakura shrimp in spring. One minute from Musashi-Koyama Station; closed Tuesdays, and dinner only on Wednesdays.

8. Oyamadai Yamada (尾山台 山田) — 3.75

Oyamadai · ¥15,000–19,999 · 10 seats
Not a pizzeria in the usual sense: a ten-seat restaurant where pizzas from a wood-fired oven alternate with other courses through a long tasting menu. Expect a Margherita to open, pizzas topped with things like Omi beef or seasonal fish, and a Marinara to close. Dinner from 19:00 Monday to Friday, lunch and dinner on Saturdays and holidays. Two minutes from Oyamadai Station.

9. Pizzeria Trattoria da Okapito — 3.74

Ogikubo · ¥6,000–7,999 · 33 seats
Pizzaiolo Tomoyuki Okada has won awards at pizza competitions in Naples and Japan; his smoked mozzarella pizza, which placed third in the Stagione category at the 2019 world championship, is on the menu. A relaxed neighbourhood trattoria four minutes from Ogikubo Station, open for lunch and dinner; closed Wednesdays.

10. Seirinkan (聖林館) — 3.73

Nakameguro · ¥4,000–4,999 · 40 seats
One of Tokyo’s pioneering Neapolitan pizzerias. Chef Susumu Kakinuma serves just two pizzas — Margherita and Marinara — each baked for about a minute in an oven set into the wall, in a dark, steampunk-style room with a wrought-iron staircase. Open every day for lunch and dinner, two minutes from Nakameguro Station.

Tips for eating pizza in Tokyo

  • Book the small ones. The Pizza Bar on 38th, 400℃ and Fakalò have 8 to 15 seats and fill up weeks ahead.
  • Go Neapolitan or Roman. Most of the list is soft, puffy Neapolitan; Il Pentito is the place for thin, crisp Roman pizza.
  • Lunch is easy. Savoy, La Tripletta, da Okapito, Fabbrica 1090 and Seirinkan all serve lunch, often without a booking.
  • Budgets are per person, food only. Drinks are extra.
